A Holiday Message

Greetings,

This time of year is looked upon as the season for “giving”. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 Have you ever searched a little deeper and asked why?

During the 1st and 2nd Temple Periods offerings were brought at various times of the year for various reasons. One of the more somber times of the year was during Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) when offerings that had been deemed pure and spotless by the priest was brought to the Temple to be presented on behalf of the individual…for the covering/remission of sin; the individual presented something innocent and blameless. This practice had to be repeated over and over as no animal at any one time could fullfill the requirements of the perfect offering and perpetuate the forgiveness of sin. Only Jesus Chirst who was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life could be the ultimate offering for all mankind.

You will notice the word sacrifice has yet to be used. During the 1st and 2nd Temple Periods the people would bring their Korban not a sacrifice to the priest to be offered on the Alter as commanded by God. There is no Hebrew word for sacrifice. They brought their Korban, which literally means “to draw near”. For God so loved the world that He sent a once and for all, pure, perfect, sinless Korban… that we might draw near to Him. He loves us so much!

During the richness of this season Walking With The Prophets sends you tidings of joy and peace. May the God of all creation bless you, your family and your ministry as you diligently draw near to Him.

With Blessings and Warm Regards,
Michael and Jeannie O’Donell
